i have family in the states also. i am missing my aunt and my grandparents. they migrated when i was only around 9 years old. i miss them so much
I went to Colegio San Agustin from the 3rd grade until my high school graduation. I did not graduate with honors, but i did graduate with 2 acceptance letters from the 2 out of 3 schools that I applied for. I got in Ateneo De Manila University, and De La Salla University, but I ended up going to UP.
I am currently taking up BS Family Life and Child Development at the University of the Philippines. although UP wasn't my first choice, i am glad that i went here. i learned to be independent because of UP, and i am thankful that i get to meet people from all walks of life and of different beliefs. I am on 100% scholarship because I play for the university’s women’s tennis team.Tennis
award for rookie of the year |
I have been playing tennis since I was 5 years old, and I started competing at the age of 8. From then I have won around 40 trophies and I don’t know how many medals. Nationally, I ranked number 1 during my time in the 10 & under division, 12 & under division (from 10-12 years old), 14 & under division (12-14 years old). I ranked number 2 in the 16 & under division (14-16 years old), and part of the top 6 in the 18 & under division for a year. I stopped competing after a year joining the 18 & under division, and I focused more on interschool tournaments.
Now that im in college, I started playing again, and my game has improved greatly. My school was 3rd place in last year’s UAAP season. I was named rookie of the year in the Women’s division.
Dancing
I love dancing. I’ve been dancing since before I started playing tennis. Never professionally, but I would always dance in birthday celebration of my family and relatives, also in special occasions.
I joined the CSA dance troupe when I was in grade 4, that’s when I knew I love dancing. I started out as the girl in the background; never got picked, always just the extra. But as I progressed, my teacher included me more in performances, and eventually, I started getting opportunities to be in front. I have danced for the Opening of the Intramurals in my school as a Torch dancer, and a cheerleader from the the 4th grade till the 7th grade.
the csa red and gold boosters 2009-2010 |
In high school, I was a part of the school’s cheerleading squad called the Boosters, and I also had an opportunity to dance with the High School Dance troupe when they invited me to join them in the skechers competition.
AWAKEN, the youth concert of my church |
I started dancing for my church the summer before my senior year, and although it’s not the same- the intensity of dance moves, difficulty of steps- there’s a greater feeling when you’re dancing for God.
Christianity
my first youth camp |
I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in april 2009, in my church's youth camp, word for the world christian fellowship, and my life has never been the same. I used to swear a lot. I judged people by appearance, status in life, social status in school, and all the shallow aspects. I used to dislike my parents. I used to wish I was never born, or born with a different family at least. I used to question why God has put me in this earth when it would have been easier if I had not existed.
I did a lot of things in the past that I wish I could take back.
All of that changed. i try not to let my heart be consumed with negativity. i try my best to love others even those who have done me wrong. i try my best to be a good follower of Christ, continually changing my heart to be more and more like His. in short, i am letting God lead my life.
I am not saying im perfect, of course i stumble. but the important part is that I don't let sin take over me so that i can make way for God’s love to transcend through me.
The person I was in the past died when Christ came into my life. I am not that girl anymore.
I am a new person, starting a new life, a clean slate.
I try my best to be a good representation of Jesus here on earth.
