day 9- your beliefs

If you have read my previous blogs  like bloomberg on his faith, Yamauchi on His faith or Metzger on his faithyou will see that I very much believe and trust in the Bible. I believe everything that it says in there by faith, and it is backed up by my studies.

It is important that the bible be read in its context; the culture, the time period, etc. we cannot base our understanding of the bible on the culture and environment we have now. Also we should take into account that the bible was originally written in Hebrew and that the English language limits the translation of the Bible, and with that it is important that people study Hebrew or what scholars have to say about understanding the English translations of the bible.

Although I know there are criticisms out there, and I can’t personally guarantee the authenticity and reliability of the bible but  Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed"(Jn.20:29).”

I believe in an absolute truth. I believe that there is good and there is evil, and that no matter what the motive is of an action, if it is a sin, then it is a sin. There is no justification to sin, but there is forgiveness.

And because there is an absolute truth, there is a giver of that truth, of the moral law, and that giver is God.

I believe that because of our sinful nature brought about the disobedience of Adam and Eve that we have the innate desire to please ourselves and not serve our creator, and with that we do not deserve God’s love, but I believe that God became man through Jesus Christ, and by giving up His life for us at the cross and rising again; we are reconciled with the Father. We can now come to Him. We can now be forgiven. We are now free from the bondage of sin, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can live a life for God.

I believe that we all have eternal lives when we die, but that eternal life will either be spent in heaven or in hell.

I believe that accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior will save you, but you have to understand that accepting Jesus in your life means giving up your own will to have Him Lord over your life. Which means, you are not living your life for yourself, anymore or by your rules, but by God’s commands and teachings.

I believe that to say yes to God is to turn away from sin. It doesn’t mean that when you turn away from sin that you will never sin again, no. I believe that when you turn away from sin, means you make that constant decision to walk the path of righteousness, and every time you stumble that you will get back up, ask for forgiveness and keep pushing.

I believe that when we are forgiven, we are made white as snow. God does not count the sins that we did when we whole-heartedly repent and turn away from it.

I believe that God looks at the heart and not the action, but the actions show what is in the heart. Good deeds that are not motivated by faith and compassion and love, will not count. Faith without actions, will not count either. True faith will bear fruit.

Actually I can go on and on about what I believe in but it will be a pretty long entry, but I think these are the basics of what I believe in. and as I have said I believe in the bible; God’s words, His commands, His teachings.
